Stitching with Nature: A Botanical Embroidery Workshop

Saturday 11th April 2026 | 11am-3pm

Join textile artist Katerina Knight for a one-of-a-kind embroidery experience inspired by the natural world. Stitching with Nature is a slow, mindful workshop welcoming the arrival of spring through hand stitching with dried flowers and botanicals.

During this four-hour workshop, Katerina will introduce a range of hand embroidery techniques that use dried plant materials as alternative textile embellishments. Participants will learn how to incorporate materials such as lavender seeds, cornflowers, dahlia petals and rosemary alongside traditional stitches, creating richly textured and sensorial embroidery samples.

Designed to be calm, immersive and restorative, this workshop is ideal whether you are interested in textiles, gardening, meditation, or simply enjoy learning something new. No previous embroidery experience is needed — you are encouraged to work slowly and at a pace that feels comfortable.

All materials are provided, including a carefully curated selection of dried plant materials, homegrown or sustainably foraged by Katerina in Malvern, Worcestershire.

The workshop takes place at Strawberry Hill House, with a short break midway. During the break, participants are welcome to purchase refreshments from our Roots & Berries Garden Café, which can be enjoyed in the café or brought back into the workshop space.

Please note: entry to Strawberry Hill House is not included in the workshop ticket and must be purchased separately. Participants are welcome to visit the house before the workshop between 10:00–11:00am, or enter the house after the workshop at the final entry time of 3:00pm.

FAQ:

Do I need to bring anything?

No — all tools and materials are provided. However, you are very welcome to bring along your own natural plant materials if you wish, perhaps a flower from your garden or a plant that has caught your eye on a walk.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is open to everyone. It is suitable for those interested in textiles, gardening, slow and meditative practices, or anyone curious to try something new in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Do I need experience in stitching?

Not at all. All techniques will be demonstrated, stitch guides will be provided, and Katerina will offer individual guidance throughout the session.
